Welcome to Africa! Upon arrival into Tanzania you'll be met at the International Airport of Kilimanjaro and taken to your hotel in Arusha. There your safari manager will meet you and provide you with a safari briefing. You can then sit back, relax and enjoy the view of Mount Kilimanjaro while you have dinner.

Day 4 — Arusha/Lake Manyara
On morning and afternoon game drives, watch wildlife interact on the shores of Lake Manyara. Dine at the lodge before an optional night game drive to spot nocturnal animals such as leopards, hyenas, and bush babies.Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge (B,L,D)
Day 5 — Lake Manyara/Ngorongoro Crater
Travel to the Ngorongoro Highlands where a nearby Maasai community welcomes us into their village on a special visit. Far from the tourist circuit, enjoy a rare opportunity to view traditional singing and dancing, visit a school, witness an initiation ritual, and learn about this fascinating culture from the village chief. After lunch, descend 2,000 feet to the base of the Ngorongoro Crater, where volcanic slopes shelter almost 30,000 animals. View elephants, rhinos, buffalo, cheetahs, lions, hyenas, hippos, and wildebeests. Day 6 — Ngorongoro Crater

Day 7 — Ngorongoro Crater/Olduvai Gorge/Serengeti National Park
Travel to Olduvai Gorge where, on a National Geographic-sponsored expedition in 1960, Louis and Mary Leakey discovered the remains of Homo habilis, one of the earliest humans. Explore the site through a fun, hands-on activity and learn about the fossils found here. Day 8 — Serengeti National Park
Embark on an early morning game drive to watch wildlife interact with each other at one of the most active times of the day in the Serengeti. Be on the lookout for magnificent birds, zebras, hippos, packs of hyenas, and pairs of jackals. Your tour starts with the drive to Tarangire, Tanzania's third largest national park and sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. There is a great diversity of wildlife including lions, leopards, and cheetahs… and up to six thousand elephants. You'll then spend the night at a lodge in Tarangire National Park
After breakfast you start on your way to Serengeti National Park. Although it is quite a long transfer you have lots of opportunity to see animals. To get to Serengeti you have to cross the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you can see zebras, antelopes, giraffes, and gazelles next to the cattle herds of the Masai living in this area. If you like, you can stop at a village and be shown around the Boma and learn something of the daily life of the people. After stopping for your picnic lunch on a kopje (rock outcropping) in Serengeti, you will continue further into the park and go on a game drive. Tonight you'll be staying at a lodge in central Serengeti.
Your early morning game drive will reveal nocturnal predators returning from hunting, as well as animals waking up in the early morning light. Depending on the time of year and the migration of the herds, you can expect to see wildebeest, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes and many birds and other species. As in Ngorongoro your driver will be in contact with other safari drivers and will amaze you with his skill at locating the hidden animals. You'll then return to the same lodge for another night.
After an early breakfast drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you´ll descend into the crater for a wonderful game drive and a picnic lunch. The inside of the crater is often described as one of the wonders of the world. It is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and as a natural sanctuary it houses one of Africa’s densest animal populations. It is one of the few places where the rare black rhino can be observed in their natural setting. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, many birds and other species. With a bit of luck the ‘Big Five’ can be spotted during one game drive only! A lodge in the crater will provide your home for tonight.
Spend the day in Karatu, a small town located at the outer rim of the Ngorongoro Highlands. Sitting on a plateau of the Great Rift Valley Escarpment , the town enjoys a beautiful climate. Your day will be filled with many cultural encounters. Go on a stroll to the busy market of Karatu Town and pay a visit to a descendent of the old Irawq-Tribe. He will give you an interesting introduction into the traditions of Tanzania and his tribe.
If you wish, you can then visit a local school or orphanage, or one of the colorful nearby Masai Markets (if one is held). In the afternoon you will go on a guided walk in one of the surrounding villages and up to Ganeko Hill (duration 1-3 hours, depending on your will). Then rest up and enjoy a night in Karatu Village, at a charming lodge nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley Escarpment.
After breakfast at the lodge, it will be time to say goodbye to Africa, See you again soon!!
